WONDERFUL MURALS in a new public school (PS312) in Long Island City, Queens, NY.
About this project, tile maker, fabricator and installer Andru Eron, owner of New York Tilemakers says: “ Artist Ohad Meromi was chosen to design this mural project for the lobby of the new public school, PS312, in Long Island City, Queens. He came to me to make it all happen. Everything was made in my workspace at New York Tilemakers in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My tasks included all fabrication; creating tiles and mosaics from moist clay, glazing and firing, them. I specified and purchased factory mosaics for the backgrounds - (ordered through Nemo, a company in Jamaica, Queens and the hexagons were an import called ‘Lanka.’) I shaped the factory mosaics and created the layout of all the murals. The face-mount mosaic film was applied next and a grid system executed for the installation. I packed the project for transport to the school site. Next came the installation and grouting. The finished murals consist of four panels, each one is 9 X 9 ft. There are four identifying plaque tiles mounted next to the mural providing the piece title, “Altogether Now,” artist’s names and other pertinent information. The project took about five months to complete.”

A Grueby Collector’s New Bathroom
“We recently finished a small bath/powder room in our house, using all Grueby tiles that I had been collecting for 30 years. The floor is of brown hexes. There is a cove in Grueby green, and the tiled portions of the walls are Grueby green and a light toast color, often seen with the green. The oak wood in the bathroom was salvaged from a 1908 mansion in Los Angeles built by the Barrymore family and came from the grand staircase. It’s an impeccable installation by Chuck Fitzgerald, Fitz Tile of El Cajon CA.”
Dave Smith, collector, homeowner.
