A pdf SHOWCASE of 44 delightful ART TILES in the auction
Art Tiles in this auction were generously contributed from Artisans around the country to Tile Heritage which in normal times would have been shown and sold during the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works Spring Tile Festival & Artisan Tile Northwest Fall Festival, both of which were cancelled this year due to the pandemic.
FUNDS from this up-coming event will provide support for the Foundation's ongoing tile history archiving project as well as a comprehensive online index capturing the History of Ceramic Tile in the United States from the 1870s to the present day.

" The Dragon Steps" another
BEAUTIFUL TILED STAIRCASE
for San Francisco!
"The Dragon steps Miraloma Elementary School were created by Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher. The design begins with the dragon tail on the main staircase surrounded by fanciful flowers and plants. At the top of the stairs the dragon mosaic comes into view on wall to the left and the steps continues with billowing smoke from the dragons mouth. The large top wall depicts the sun, planets and stars. The design is a combination of handmade tile and cut commercial tile.
The artists created the design and worked with the school staff to add inspirational quotes and curriculum text to the design. The artists provided hands on workshops for all classes in the school to create handmade tiles which were added to the mosaic. A workshop day was also held for parents and the wider community to make tiles."
