"The Worlds We Speak" was designed by Mariam Ghani and is her first tile mosaic, mounted in Delta Airlines Terminal C's baggage claim area, the multimedia artist Mariam Ghani has created a portrait of New York based on a data visualization of the more than 700 languages and dialects spoken in the area. "The Worlds We Speak" presents six planetary clusters standing in for the city's five boroughs plus the tristate area. These spheres contain a multitude of smaller circles in a spectrum of vivid colors, each representing a linguistic community and engraved with the name of that language in its own script. The tiles and panels were produced and fabricated by NYTilemakers Here is a link to an installation video (or click the 'team' Image above) https://www.instagram.com/p/CegQoVmFCnJ/

Tree of Engineering Mural: The mural is located on the Cabrillo College campus in Aptos CA.The mural is 10' high x 20' wide. The textured bas relief tiles are all hand made and glazed by over 45 students and volunteers. It was designed by Sylvia Rios at the request of Jo-Ann Panzardi, the Engineering department chair. The installers were Phylece Snyder & Wilma Wyss ….. CLICK HERE for MORE of the STORY plus MANY fabrication and installation images by clicking on one of the images below.

The mural depicts the concept that Math is the foundation of Engineering. Biological and Physical Sciences are at the trunk from which the different areas of Engineering grow and are represented in the leaves. The Monterey Bay area is represented in the redwood forest and aspen grove, the bay, clouds, fog and windy sky.

The surrounding agricultural areas can be seen in the row crops and apple orchards. The golden hills and coastal mountains hold the solar and wind farm. The Moss Landing power plant and new battery storage facility can be spotted on the shore of the Monterey Bay. The unveiling is planned for the evening of September 14th. 2022.
