Everyone. Our goal is to make the Registry a tile community project. We welcome people from all over the country and the world to submit sites to the Registry.

Absolutely! You can submit an installation that is in your own home.  We want to include new and historic sites that are in private homes.

We promise to keep all location information about your home private.

Yes, absolutely! If you think it belongs in the Registry, tell us what you do know about it, and we will work together to learn more. We need images and an address to start.

Yes, we do accept submissions from tile companies. We think it is important to include contemporary installations if they meet the criteria. We do require companies to join the Foundation as a Business Member to submit their own projects to help support the project.

To get your company listed in the directory, you have two options.

For the basic free listing, email your contact information to K.motawi@tileheritage.org.

To get the Enhanced listing that includes the ability to submit projects to the Registry, go to the Business Membership page and join the Tile Heritage Foundation at any level.

No. Sites must meet at least one of the criteria for inclusion.

National Tile Installation Registry Criteria (Provisional)

National Tile Installation Registry sites are locations featuring architectural tile or mosaics that embody artistic, cultural, or industrial significance.  The site may be historic or contemporary and international sites are eligible for inclusion.  Permanent museum collections and displays of historic tile may also be included in the register.

To be eligible for consideration, a site must meet one or more of the following criteria, as determined by the National Tile Installation Registry Selection Committee.  The committee will be comprised of Tile Heritage Foundation staff, board members, and members of the ceramic tile and mosaic communities.

Provisional Criteria

• Represents a masterful architectural installation of ceramic tile or mosaic art
• Demonstrates superior installation craftsmanship and design
• Is an exceptional example of a cultural tile-making tradition or mosaic technique
• Illustrates a dramatic or important advancement in artistic or industrial tile making or use
• Significant permanent museum tile collection

After a site is submitted, it will be reviewed by Foundation staff to determine if it meets the criteria.  If we have questions, we will reach out to you before it is formally reviewed for inclusion in the Registry.  We will inform you of the decision via email.  This can take a few days or a few weeks depending on the number of submissions.

There is no limit to the number of historic sites you can submit.  As a matter of fact, we have a Contributors Site and application that is designed for super volunteers to submit as many sites as they wish.   You can download contributor information here.

At present, we are at the start of the start of this project.  Our goal is to grow the Registry with your help into a massive collection of exciting tile imagery and history.  To make it a tile lover's dream and a useful resource.

This is the beta version, and we expect to add features and build a stronger, faster, more secure platform as we go.

Our tile heritage is still being written, and here at the Tile Heritage Foundation, our mission is to preserve tile history AND promote modern-day tile makers and installers.

By including tile installations from all eras, the Registry does double duty.

And as a bonus, it builds awareness of these sites so people will value them and protect them into the future.
