Historic and Contemporary Archive Files
Tile Heritage Foundation (THF) maintains information on historic and contemporary tile artisans, architectural ceramists, mosaicists, manufacturers, distributors, architects, tile installers, and other tile-related support industries. Many of these records have corresponding images of work examples and projects.
THF Archive files currently number more than 450 historic tile companies and more than 700 contemporary archive files.
Tile Collection
The THF Tile Collection is one of the largest public collections in the U.S. of historic decorative and glazed tiles. These come from scores of different companies, some dating back to the 19th century.
This collection of more than 4,000 tiles is available to galleries and museums for display and exhibitions, as well as to the public for personal examination.
Tile Image Collection
THF has archived approximately 140,000 images of tiles and tile installations from around the world.
Tile Publications
The collection includes a large selection of historical documents, books, and periodicals.
It also contains more than 700 original company catalogs about tiles and information about companies that have produced and installed tiles and architectural terra cotta in the U.S. during the past 150 years.
