Handcraft Tile Company was founded in 1926 by Florence and Les Austin and Larry Bruns about a year before land was purchased in Milpitas, just north of San Jose, California where a tile factory was established. Florence was the tile designer, while Les and Larry ran the plant. Through a succession of owners, the company has survived and remains active today, offering many of the original designs as well as a more contemporary product line. See www.handcrafttile.com.
