Royal Delft
The Koninklijke (Royal) Porceleyne Fles is the only remaining
factory of the 32 earthernware factories that were established in
Delft in the 17th century. It is understandable that over so many
years the company would experience numerous transformations, the
result of which would be an amazingly diverse offerings of ceramic
products. One of the most aesthetically productive periods began
during the last quarter of the 19th century, lasting until roughly
1930. Initially under the leadership of Joost Thooft (1844-1890) and
then Abel Labouchere (1860-1940), along with artist Adolf le Comte,
the company perfected and broadened its color range and added tile
pictures and architectural earthenware strikingly diverse in character.
